Well the damage done over the 3 day holiday weekend was a 3 pound weight gain. I literally drank the town down. So today I am going back on the pure protein diet for 4 days to get back to where I was. Story of my life. Up - Down. Up - Down. Up - Down.

I am spending today and tomorrow at the Hermosa Beach Art Festival and have given myself the weekend off from dieting. I ran this morning for 1/4 mile and walked the rest of the way in preparation.

Well somehow I popped on 2 pounds again. Water weight? Muscle gain? I KNOW it's not fat. Will run it off this morning and drink lots of water today. That should do it. Today is protein day.

Deborah - Day 11
As Dr. Dukan says, The purpose of a "canned" diet is that you get the inspirational boost of losing weight fast in the beginning which helps you stay on the diet. I am a believer. Jenny Craig was very consistent but the food totally sucked. Which is why I couldn't go back on it. Just the thought of opening another tv dinner makes me shudder.
I ran twice as far yesterday as I did the day before. I was astonished. The tee shirts that I bought 3 weeks ago all fit me like huge sleep shirts now. Bob actually asked me how much I have lost and said he thought I had lost A LOT more! Yes, I will take that as a compliment!

Lunch: Apple Walnut Chicken Salad and 2 liters of water
Dinner: Green melon smoothie with Coconut milk and a little watermelon, apple and peanut butter
I made the mistake of putting honey in the smoothie and I hate the taste of honey so I drank half of it and poured the rest down the drain.
Walked 15 minutes & drank another liter of water
Spoke with a Rolfer today so I have an appointment to get Rolfed on Tuesday afternoon. I hear it is painful yet amazing. If it is too painful I will run out of the room, but I am pretty sure I would like to have all the stress knots in my back squished away. Maybe he can make the ringing in my ears go away.

Lunch: Water & Lemon, Grilled Chopped Sirloin, Cottage Cheese, Tomatoe slice and boiled egg

Deborah - Day 10
I lost another 2 pounds! That is 8.9 pounds in 10 days which is pretty incredible. I finally beat the plateau! I am ecstatic! Yesterday I went out and actually did an alternate jog and hike. Started out jogging on a flat trail. Hiked a while. Climbed down a cliff and climbed over huge rocks trying to get around the coast. That took an hour and a half. And then I had to go back! It was good. I am gonna go out and do it again today.
Yesterday was a protein and veggie day so today will be pure protein. I did protein for breakfast and lunch and did chicken and big, veggie salad. You can have 1 teaspoon olive oil, mustard and balsamic for dressing.
Today:

Dinner: Turkey and Oat Bran Pancake

Charlotte - Day 9
Finally, lost 3 pounds, YEA!!!!!!!!
Breakfast: Mixed Berry/Almond Milk Smoothie
Lunch: Greek Yogurt with water
Dinner: Grilled Pork Chop with salad of fresh spinach, red onion, celery, radish, Luppini Beans, sunflower seeds with Bragg's Sesame Ginger Dressing, and some cooked yellow squash.
I am still left wanting something. I have watermelon in the fridge so that may be desert.
Back from my 20 min walk 8:30-9:00 and it is 92 degrees outside (IN MAY!) What is August going to bring other than lots of hurricanes. I sweated, and huffed and puffed trying to breathe in this hot and humid evening. I have lost my appetite from the heat, guess that is a good thing.

I am going on Phase 2 - Cruise Phase today. 1 day of protein and 1 day of protein and vegetables. Until I lose all the weight. Wow. That's a long time in my mind. But I will stick to it and do it! Yes, I will! I will. I will. I willl.
Still on a plateau of 166. Gonna go out and run this morning.

In a week, if followed well, you can lose up to 3 pounds.

Walked 30 minutes tonight and it is 97 degrees at 9:00PM.
Maybe if I sew my mouth shut I will lose weight.

Okay, I lost 1.5 pounds of the 2 I gained by drinking alcohol! I have an interview today so hopefully it will take my mind off all this xxxxing dieting! I swear! You should just be able to go out and do a 5 mile hike everyday and be thin! Frustration running deep today.

I am starting the Dukan Diet all over again fresh, from the start, starting today. I realized I am doing several things wrong. Like eating 2% dairy products instead of non-fat. And by adding onions to my yogurt to make tartar sauce. Not supposed to eat onions until the Cruise Phase! And not drinking enough water. I went out and bought all new NON-FAT dairy. And I am going to follow the menu's provided. They are much more appetizing than my menu's. And we will see if I can make it a whole week without alcohol. So sad. Sooooo......I plan to do this for 7 days.

DON'T DO IT! I stepped on the scales this morning and I was 2 pounds heavier. I know I can get that back off today but STILL. I did go on to read that though distilled liquors don't have any carbs or sugars and you can cut your food calories to account for the alcohol calories....alcohol stops the body from burning fat. Doesn't that suck?
Anyway..Punishment for the day will be:

Charlotte - Day 6
Today was good.
Breakfast of coffee and water. Then a salesman came over and sold a cutlery knife set and Billy said pick the one you want so I got the set of 7 knives (2 paring knives, a chef knife, a carving knife and a bread knife, two other knives, all with pearl handles and a cherry wood block with a 3 prong turning fork and kitchen shears.. woo hoo! Now I can cut up all my veggies with ease!
Lunch was cottage cheese and water, then off to the nursery to buy passion vines for the garden and a farmer's market was there so I picked up squash, watermelon, honeydew melon, radishes, onions, on and on. Met a friend for afternoon snack of peach tea and bread with cheese. Made my way home after visiting El Paso Furniture store picking out items for my patio garden (I wish).
Dinner was a large salad of iceberg, spinach, corn kernals, celery, tomato with Bragg's Sesame Ginger dressing with Jasmin Tea. I am very satisfied and happy. I will see what the scale says tomorrow.

I have lost 6.7 pounds in 6 days on the Dukan Diet. This is the first diet that delivers what it promises (for me at least). I have 4 more days on the Attack Phase and am seriously contemplating stretching that phase a little longer. Why not? The cave men didn't die on a meat diet. I haven't lost weight in so long that I don't want to stop!!!

Charlotte - Day 5
I am dragging butt. No weight loss today, there I sit in meditation planted to the ground. Let's see, I had water, coffee, macadamia nuts and salad and 3 pieces of fried chicken for the day. Friday another frustrating day at work, let's see.... bad day at work...... bad day at dieting. Hence, quit work = happy person = happy dieting.. makes sense to me. I will go to the garden store and Whole Foods and see about stocking the fridge with my good food for the week.
THIS IS DAY 5 AND IM ALREADY SICK OF LEMONS AND CANT WAIT TILL WEDNESSDAY IS OVER. I SEE FOOD EVERYWHERE. TODAY I TOOK COSCO COOKIES TO MY BIBLE STUDY. THIS ONE IS A HARD ONE EVEN THOUGH THIS IS MY 7TH LEMONADE CLEASE THE LONGEST IVE WENT WAS 12 DAYS . I CANT EVEN BELIEVE IT. WELL I CANT WAIT TO GET BUSY ON THE DUKIN. I WILL HAVE TO GO SHOPPING. BUMMER! I didn't lose any weight when I woke up this morning, but I also didn't follow the diet as closely as I have been. I missed a meal which was the cottage cheese, Greek yogurt and oat bran. And instead of drinking Jasmine/Green Tea and Water all day I only had 2 Coke Blacks all day. I know from reading the book, the doctor said you will not get results if you don't drink 1.5 liters of water a day because on a high protein diet, the body needs water to flush out the fat you have burned. It is okay to drink diet sodas, but I didn't drink the recommended amount of water by any stretch of the imagination.
Skipping meals + not drinking enough water = no weight loss
Got it! Very simple....follow the diet that is spelled out for you.
Breakfast: coffee CRAP! (had a phone interview until lunch and then went to the movies)
Late Lunch: steak and eggs
Dinner: broiled chicken
Dessert: cottage cheese, Greek yogurt and oat bran
Lots of water, water, water! We'll see if the scales move tomorrow!

Day 4 - Charlotte
OK, my sister is ahead of me by leaps and bounds and I am frustrated at work which tends to make me want to eat French Fries!!!! Yes, lunch was french fries and a coke, not exactly raw. No breakfast. Probably no dinner. And naturally, have not lost any weight.

Day 3 - Charlotte
Last night was hell with stomach cramps until 3AM and I am thinking maybe this meat thing is not my bag. This morning I had 2 boiled eggs and a cup of coffee and off to work. Lunch was Greek Yogurt, oat bran and cinnamon with water and water and water. The office computer is on the blink so I am running back and forth from home to office working; home is nice but no A/C! the office is nice but no COMPUTER! Back at the house and stopped and bought me a chicken pecan salad at Wendy's sans the dressing since I have come to love Bragg's Sesame Ginger Salad Dresssing. Lost 1/2 pound in 3 days..... that is depressing.
Day 3 - Deborah
Woke up this morning and made some coffee and did some work on the computer. Had to do extensive testing for an interview. Looked up and it was 11:30! Man! Not supposed to skip meals!
Ran in the kitchen and fixed a tumbler of green tea and downed it.
Went to target with Bob and on the way back saw a billboard with a huge, icy cold, brew of beer! OMG! I immediately was craving beer. But then we stopped and looked at the kitties at the shelter and disaster was diverted.
I am baking a whole chicken stuffed with lemons and trying to down water and tea in the process.

Oops! Had bacon and eggs for breakfast

Had steak and eggs with my sister sitting in a California beach town before getting on plane back to hot tamale Texas.

I woke up and jumped on the scales and lo and behold.....I am 2.8 pounds lighter! Yeahhhhh! I will use whatever mind games and trickery possible to stay the course for 10 days with this kind of results. I am jazzed.
I am boiling a dozen eggs so they will be on hand in the fridge. And at night, I plan on cooking all the meat for the next day and put it in the fridge in a Tupperware container so I can just grab it if hungry. Either eat as cold cuts or heat in microwave.

Deborah - Day 1 Dukan Diet
As I drove my sister to the airport this morning, I wondered what I could order from the restaurant if we stopped for brunch. I kept thinking I could ask them to boil 2 eggs and bring me cottage cheese. Then my mind lit up as I realized I could have steak and eggs and coffee! Yes! It was perfect! I mean what kind of diet allows you to eat steak and eggs????
This afternoon, I mixed greek yogurt and cottage cheese and oatmeal bran together. It was super filling.
Tonight I plan on having a grilled chicken breast (no skin).
I did realize that I have not drank nearly enough water for the day though. 1.5 liters is a lot. I will try to make up the rest between now and bedtime. I do have trouble remembering to drink enough.
But, all in all, it has been a successful day!
